Easy Group proud to support MOVEMBER Campaign : Prostate Cancer Awareness

During November, some of the guys at Easy Group are sprouting moustaches to help raise awareness and vital funds for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men. One man in this country dies of prostate cancer EVERY HOUR, of every day, more than 10,000 every year.

The Prostate Cancer Charity - Funds raised by the Movember community are enabling The Prostate Cancer Charity to carry out a number of key programmes that are making a real difference to the lives of men and their families affected by prostate cancer. This is significant, when you consider one man in this country dies of prostate cancer EVERY HOUR, of every day, more than 10,000 every year.

All cancer diagnoses are life-changing. Prostate cancer is complicated as men do not always display symptoms and can be faced with a complex range of treatment options. This means that clear information is critical.

Thanks to the efforts of over 100,000 Mo Bros and Mo Sistas, the charity has been able to give more people more support in 2010 and reach towards its vision of fighting prostate cancer on every front - through research, support, information and campaigning.

The funds raised in the UK support the number one and two male specific cancers - prostate and testicular cancer.  The Prostate Cancer Charity and the Institute of Cancer Research. Together, these channels work together to ensure that Movember funds are supporting a broad range of innovative, world-class programmes in line with their strategic goals in the areas of awareness and education, survivorship and research.

Portsmouth based company completes accreditation allowing it to install SYSTIMAX telecommunication infrastructure
Portsmouth unified communications provider The Easy Group’s network division, Easy Networks has obtained accreditation into infrastructure provider CommScope’s global network of authorised SYSTIMAX Solution business partners.
SYSTIMAX has a global network of 2,000 skilled business partners which are licensed to install its communication infrastructure solutions such as cable, conduit, FTTX solutions and subscriber drop products.
Easy Group managing director Simon Mewett (pictured) said achieving SYSTIMAX accreditation was an “enormous achievement” for the group.
“We have great aspirations to continue this partnership with CommScope as we grow our business for the remainder of the year,” Mewett said.
“We believe the SYSTIMAX Solution certification is a dependable measure of competency that can be relied on and recognized worldwide.”
Mewett said the group’s engineers had gone through “rigorous” SYSTIMAX Solution training programs and have proven their knowledge in the latest connectivity solutions technology.

EASY Group team raise £2700 for MACMILLAN Cancer Trust

On Wednesday 27 July, Phil Bennett, Simon Hoyle from Easy Group, and a good friend Matt Bone set themselves a gruesome challenge – and completed a round of Golf with 72 holes, approximately 20 miles, raising £2700 for Macmillan Cancer Trust.  The challenge took place at Hurtmore Golf Club, near Guildford and they completed the challenge in 15 hours.  
In 2010 the Charity Golf Challenge raised nearly £300,000 across the UK to help support people affected by Cancer.

The official opening of Hi Rock – Hayling Island’s Climbing Wall

Hi-rock’s  21ft high wall was officially unveiled at Hayling College to cheers from pupils, teachers, the police and Doris Long, MBE, known to people around the world as ‘Daring Doris’ on Friday 22 July.

The 97-year-old MBE and record- breaking abseiler was the guest of honour. The lady who masterminded the project is WPC Debbie Surridge from Hayling Island. She applied for a National Lottery grant of £50,000.  With the support of the local people on the island and teacher Alan White at Hayling College, they managed to raise a staggering 16,100 votes from members of the public.

The climbing wall took two weeks to build and is now ready to be used by people of all ages and abilities, including disabled and partially sighted people.

WPC Debbie Surridge said: ‘I am absolutely delighted about this project and something for the local kids and adults in the community to enjoy. We were absolutely thrilled to get the lottery grant.”

The climbing wall will be manned by fully-trained volunteers and a brand new CCTV system is being installed by local firm Easy Networks. Each session costs £4 and that money goes back into maintaining the wall. Mrs Long said: ‘It’s just amazing. If I didn’t have a frozen shoulder I’d be up there climbing with the kids. It’s an honour to have my name on the wall.’
